Estimated API/AYP
Why?

API and AYP estimates

aim to:

  • Provide estimated API and AYP scores before the official state release.
  • Allow districts to make data-driven decisions for curriculum planning over the summer, before school reconvenes and reports are released to parents, the community, and board members.
  • Provide schools and districts more time to address potential areas of concern.
  • Provide greater depth of analysis by generating Significant Subgroup, and grade level analysis for each school/district.
  • Chart the academic performance of schools on a variety of academic measures by subgroup and grade level.
What?

Since the 1999 Base API, Key Data Systems has aggressively developed and maintained a highly reliable system for processing your data into accurate reports and rapidly delivering these reports to you.

While only the California Department of Education (CDE) can issue official APIs and AYPs, we calculate estimates based on API algorithms and the CDE Accountability Workbook to consistently match exactly, or within a few points of, CDE computations.

We test our algorithms by comparing them to manual computations by data professionals. We continuously test to make sure that our algorithms are stable and as accurate as possible.

How?

Our Estimated API/AYP Reports:

  • You provide Key Data with your STAR and CAHSEE data files immediately upon receipt from the testing vendor.
  • Within three business days of receiving your STAR and CAHSEE data files, we provide you with electronic reports via email or over our secured website.
  • We provide in-depth tabular and graphic representations of all results.
  • You make informed decisions up to a month ahead of receiving your official state reports.
Each of our solutions is part of a comprehensive process:
