LRE
Why?

The LRE Survey aims to:

  • Help districts examine their practices in supporting educational options for students with disabilities.
  • Ensure conformance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
  • Make decisions based on each child’s learning needs.
What?

LRE (Least Restrictive Environment) is a self-assessment tool to help districts examine their practices in supporting educational options for students with disabilities.

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires that all children with disabilities be educated in the least-restrictive environment that is appropriate for them. IDEA also requires that schools provide a full continuum of services ranging from regular classrooms with support to special classes, and special school placements as needed.

Using our LRE survey tool, decisions can be made based on children's learning needs, which vary from child to child.

How?

We have two data collection tools for the LRE survey:

  • Our online system allows each survey respondent to answer each item and move through each section of the survey easily. Online survey reports are created instantly after data are entered.
  • We also have a scannable LRE survey, which can be sent electronically for you to print, or printed in our office and shipped to you (fees may vary). You then send completed surveys back to us. We then scan them and generate reports within a week.
Each of our solutions is part of a comprehensive process:
